Layda Gongora

Layda recently completed a Masters of Science at the University of Lubeck, Germany in Digital Media. Her thesis investigated Social Software and media sharing based on context and as part of her research she had the opportunity to do a research position at K3 in the Interaction Design Department in Malmo, Sweden.  Before receiving a full scholarship for her studies in Germany she completed a Bachelor in Integrated Media and Communication Design at the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design in Vancouver, Canada. During which she completed an exchange program  at University La Salle, Design Department, Mexico City.

Layda is a Mexican/Canadian Media Artist, Designer, Researcher, and Project Manager. She is currently a Phd student at Lancaster University in the Computing Department.

While completing her Masters and her Undergraduate studies she participated in a residency at the Banff New Media Institute and as a staff member in the Creative Electronics department in Canada. She was also a researcher for the Mobile Muse Network at the University of British Columbia as well as at Simon Fraser University in the Computational Poetics Group.

Professionally she has worked Internationally in fields from media arts, research, media development, social software and E-commerce. As an early stage Marie Curie Researcher at Lancaster she is exploring the impact of explicit design space representations on innovative design.
